The only time I’ve had trouble was with grommet mounting on a linnmon and even that was easy to brace with a carefully styled ...The screws that come with the legs are machine screws, they’re not really made for screwing directly into wood - it would be very weak if it held at all. I’m looking at the one in my home office right now. I also have the sit-stand version (hand crank) and really like it, very stable. In case anyone else stumbles upon this post, it is not compatible with other table tops. The table top has plastic parts that accept the bolts, there are specifically aligned holes for the crank holder to be drilled into. I tried it and it did not work out and now I will be driving back to Ikea and getting the TROTTEN top.
