It gets more afk with the Superior mining gloves where you have a 25% chance to not deplete the vein when you mine. I did just amethyst for my gloves starting at 92. At 96 now and have 260ish more minerals than needed for expert gloves. I did amethyst for the gloves, took me about 3 weeks of afking at work. If you want them ASAP, do iron like others suggested. Do both, afk amethyst, actively mine iron.It was originally billed as a Distraction & Diversion in 2008, and getting any sort of consistent xp rates over 30-40k xp/hr will be impossible upon release and difficult at best even months down the road due to the competitive nature. If their XP drops are almost 10x in the blog then it makes a lot more sense.
