Personally I find the combination of high status chance and multishot ideal for Acrid. Also, since the darts are quite quick the flight speed negative on the first mod isn't really such a bad drawback. Damage 2.0 made the Acrid usability go down severely, Dual Acrid has a higher damage from the needle shot from a regular Acrid.
