You'll be helping the Corpus or the Grineer and will be rewarded once that node's fight ends if you complete 3 missions on that node. On rare occasions, the reward will be an Orokin Reactor/Catalyst. If you see one, go for it because those missions expire a lot faster than normal. The other option is alerts.
